REVIEW: Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2

I have been anticipating this game since the day I first heard Red Dead Redemption was going to have a sequel. I circled the date on the calendar and waited and waited. Constantly looking at the leaks and info trickling out on the internet. I knew I had to get the PS4 Pro bundle to get the most out of what this game is capable of. Finally after an agonizing wait the day came. I got in line behind all the other excited people fans of Rockstar awaiting what is expected to be the game of the year. Its finally in my hands and a rush home. Its a two damn disc installation. Its gonna be at least an hour before its ready to go. More waiting damn!

I start it up and im ready to go. After soaking all my attention into the main missions for about two hours im ready to explore. Its that first feeling of fear, curiosity and wonder that I cherished the most. For that moment I had no idea what laid beyond the rolling hills in the distance. The winding river in front of me lead to unknown adventures. The smoke sprialing upward was an interaction waiting to happen or not. The world was living with or without me. First thing I was pull out a bow and just start riding at a slow trot because running would make me miss out on the small things happening around me. I was almost afraid to be noticed. I wanted to sit and just watch it all go on.

The open world and visually stunning environment led to the possibility of endless unscripted adventure and thats exactly what happened. I spent the next 5 hours wandering around, hunting, robbing, running away, fighting and totally didnt even realize the hours of my life being consumed. It was too addicting!

I eventually contained myself enough to focus on the main missions and those were even more engaging. The story is very well written and the acting done in a way that actually evokes emotion. There is an emotional connection to the characters both good and bad.

The wait was well worth it as this game will keep me entertained for hours on end. Im already apologizing in advance to the family because im stuck in another world.
